Leave Upon joining HPB, you will be entitled to several different categories of leave:
Vacation Leave
- 18 days' annual vacation leave for Division I and II officers with less than 10 years service; 21 days' vacation leave for those with more than 10 years service.
- 14 days' leave for Division III and IV with less than 10 years service; 18 days' leave for those with more than 10 years service.
Medical Leave
- 14 days a year if the officer is not hospitalised and 60 days if hospitalised.
Child Sick / Childcare Leave
- Married female officers are eligible for additional paid leave to look after their sick child at the rate of 5 days a year if they have a child below 12 years old, up to a maximum of 15 days a year if they have 3 or more children. If you have a Singaporean child below the age of 7 years old, you will be able to take 6 days out of your existing child sick leave eligibility for the year to spend time with your young children.
Marriage Leave
- 3 days full-pay unrecorded leave may be granted to an officer on the occasion of his/her first marriage.
Paternity Leave
- 3 days full-pay unrecorded leave may be granted to a married male officer on the occasions of the birth of his first four children.
No-pay Leave
Officers may apply for no-pay leave to:
- Pursue a course of post-graduate study which is of direct value to their work.
- Accompany spouse if he/she is posted overseas or on overseas study.
- Look after a child below 4 years of age (for married female officers).
Elder Care Leave
- 2 days full-pay unrecorded leave to attend to the medical visits of his/her aged parents/parents-in-law.
Unpaid Infant Care Leave
- Married officers with a Singaporean child under the age of 2 years old will be able to take 6 days of unpaid infant care leave per year.
Study/Exam Leave
- Up to 12 days unrecorded leave may be granted to an officer to prepare and sit for examinations of part-time training/study courses that are of relevance to the job in HPB. The duration will be up to 3 days per examinable module/subject, which can be taken anytime within 1 month before the examination and on the examination date.
Compassionate Leave
- 3 days full-pay unrecorded leave to be granted to staff, (or in the case where death occurs overseas - 4days), in the event of death of the officer's immediate family members.
Maternity Leave
- A female officer is entitled up to 16 weeks of paid maternity leave if she meets certain terms and conditions.
Adoption Leave
- A married/widowed/divorced female officer is entitled up to 4 weeks of paid adoption leave if she meets certain terms and conditions.
Medical and Dental Benefits
In addition to the prevailing rate of CPF contribution towards Medisave, you will receive an additional Medisave contribution of 1% of your gross monthly salary. This is to help you to buy insurance to cover any hospitalisation needs you might encounter.
- For outpatient treatment, officers pay 15% of the expenses and dependents of officers pay 40%. The maximum outpatient subsidy for an officer and his/her dependents is $350 per year.
- The maximum outpatient subsidy at private clinics is $10 per visit.
- Officers are reimbursed 50% of the dental expenses per visit up to a maximum of $70 per year.
Flexible Benefits
Upon joining HPB, you are eligible for Flexible Benefits up to a quantum maximum of $400 per calendar year.
