Malay/Muslim Community Partnership

JKJU Network

M3 Focus Area 5: A Healthy Community for All

A new focus area under M³ (made up of the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (Muis), MENDAKI and PA MESRA) was set up to focus on community health in March 2023. Supported by HPB and MOH, it aims to empower the Malay/Muslim community to take charge of their health. There are five priorities under this focus area – to support healthy ageing, improve health screening rates, encourage the adoption of healthier lifestyles, reduce smoking prevalence, and improve mental well-being. M³ Towns are encouraged to organise initiatives for Malay/Muslim residents across these five priority areas within their towns.

Introducing the JKJU Network

HPB introduced the Jaga Kesihatan, Jaga Ummah (Look after your health, look after your community) network in 2017. Starting with just 5 mosques, the network has expanded over the years to include 100 active partners such as M³@Towns, Muis, MENDAKI, Malay Activity Executive Committees (MAECs), mosques, Malay/Muslim Organisations, Muslim Healthcare Professionals Association (Singapore), healthcare sectors, and other Whole-of-Government and social service organisations. With the set-up of M³ Focus Area (FA) 5, the Jaga Kesihatan, Jaga Ummah (JKJU) network becomes integral to the overall efforts under FA 5.

The network offers a wide range of health-promoting programmes to improve residents' and congregants' health and well-being, supporting the Malay/Muslim community in leading healthy lifestyles.

In 2023, over 40,000 individuals benefitted from a range of health-promoting activities organised by 100 JKJU partners and HPB. HPB will continue to leverage the JKJU network to promote healthy lifestyles within the Malay/Muslim community across the five priority areas of M³ FA 5 and bring together the efforts of the community partners. This also supports the overall Healthier SG efforts, which aim to empower Singaporeans to adopt healthy lifestyles and support them with more health-promoting programmes through collaborations with community partners.
